The peeling problem of thermoplastic road marking paint

2025-07-04
Latest company news about The peeling problem of thermoplastic road marking paint

     1. The peeling phenomenon at the fracture areas of the road surface. The coating formula can be adjusted to increase adhesion and flexibility.

     2. The road surface is not cleaned thoroughly or completely, or no primer is used. The construction should be carried out strictly in accordance with the construction procedures to ensure the construction quality.

     3. After the primer is applied, no lines are drawn for a long time (or the construction is carried out in windy and sandy weather), it is easy to stick with dust, which will cause the marking lines to peel off and fall off; the primer should be immediately drawn after it dries.

    4. The marking coating is affected by the degree of road surface wetness. If there is water on the road surface or it is relatively wet, measures must be taken. The construction should be carried out after the road surface is dry. During construction, it is necessary to ensure that the road surface is dry. In special cases, expedited work can be carried out using manual methods for drying.

    5. When the environmental temperature is below 5℃, the construction quality is unstable, which is likely to cause peeling and falling off. The melting temperature is too low, which will seriously affect the adhesion between the marking lines and the road surface. If no primer treatment is used, it is better to carry out construction when the environmental temperature is above 10℃. The temperature of the coating applied to the road surface should not be lower than 180℃ at the instant of application; during the winter season, construction should be carried out during the period from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the environmental temperature should not be too low.

    6. The paint does not melt fully or is not mixed evenly. During construction, the paint should be fully melted, thoroughly mixed and matured before application.

    7. The primer for cement roads is improperly selected. For newly laid cement roads, due to the high alkalinity of the surface and the presence of a brittle layer, it is prone to peeling and falling off. A penetrating primer should be selected to treat the cement roads to improve the adhesion strength. The newly poured cement roads should be carefully cleaned.
