Thermoplastic road marking paint, also known as hot melt marking paint, is a widely used material for creating durable, high-visibility road markings. Below is a concise overview based on available information:
Composition
  • Synthetic Resin: Provides thermoplasticity, enabling fast drying and strong adhesion to road surfaces. Non-polymeric resins, like colophony, are also used.
  • Glass Beads: Added for retro-reflectivity, improving visibility at night by reflecting vehicle headlights. Bead sizes typically range from 0.1-1.4 mm.
  • Pigments: Common colors are white (using titanium dioxide for UV resistance) and yellow (organic pigments like Pigment Yellow 65, 74, or 83). Other colors are available for specific applications.
